Review: Full Sail Pale Ale

Full Sail Brewing

Grade: C+

Appearance: Pours a clear light copper with a half finger head that withers away quickly and leaves minimal lacing.

Smell: Sweet, light malt with some caramel and a bit of citrus.  Toasted grains add to the pine and citrus hop presence.

Taste: Taste is just a tad sweet with a mild caramel note.  It then becomes a touch hoppy with definite notes of pine and citrus.  The sweet malts linger for a while, along with a soft hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel: The light body with hight carbonation gives it a crisp and wet finish.

Drinkability: Pretty strong.  The sweet malt and minimal hop presence makes this one an easy drinker.

Overall: This is about average for an american pale ale, but has the addition of sweeter malt and caramel flavor.  The high carbonation clears the palette and makes it a good beer to drink with pizza and burgers. It's a decent pale ale, but nothing mind blowing.
